چکیده

Abstract The Met Office’s atmospheric dispersion model Numerical Atmospheric-Dispersion Modeling Environment (NAME) is validated against controlled tracer release experiments, considering the impact of driving meteorological data and choices in parameterization unresolved motions. Cross-Appalachian Tracer Experiment (CAPTEX) Across North America (ANATEX) were long-range experiments which inert tracers released air concentrations measured across 1980s. NAME simulations have been driven by both reanalysis from European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) Advanced Research version Forecasting (WRF) Model. predictions are assessed experimental measurements, using a ranking method composed four statistical parameters. Differences performance according to this compared when different sources. effect changing parameter values mesoscale motions also considered, particular, whether giving best rank consistent with typically used. ranks analyses literature other particle models, namely, Hybrid Single-Particle Lagrangian Integrated Trajectory (HYSPLIT), Stochastic Time-Inverted Transport (STILT), Flexible Particle (FLEXPART). It found that comparable models responding similarly differences data.

Atmospheric dispersion model to predict the impact of gaseous pollutant in an industrial and mining cluster

Dispersion modeling approach was applied for the determination of SO2 and NO2 pollution in the ambient air. The model performance has been evaluated by comparing the measured and predicted concentrations of SO2 and NO2. This has been tested to measure the air quality and predicted incremental value of pollutant’s concentrations by using the data avail...

Wind tunnel experiments of tracer dispersion downwind from a small-scale physical model of a landfill

Wind tunnel experiments have been carried out on a small-scale physical model of a municipal waste landfill (MWL) in the CRIACIV (Research Centre of Building Aerodynamics and Wind Engineering) “environmental” wind tunnel in Prato (Italy). The MWL model simulates a landfill whose surface is higher than the surrounding surface, applying a 1:200 scaling factor. Modelling an area source such as lan...

Dispersion in the Surfzone: Tracer Dispersion Studies

Terrestrial runoff and river input dominates urban pollutant loading rates Often draining directly into the surfzone, this pollution degrades surfzone water quality, leading to beach closures (e.g., Boehm et al., 2002), increases health risks (e.g., diarrhea and upper respiratory illness) (Haile et al., 1999), and contains both human viruses (Jiang and Chu, 2004) and elevated levels of fecal in...

Atmospheric Tracer Transport Model Intercomparison Project (TransCom)

A multi-phase program of model intercomparison is proposed to reduce uncertainties in the global carbon budget resulting from differences among atmospheric tracer transport simulations. The TransCom program is already well underway, having begun in 1993 and completed two major experiments. The results to date are summarized in a Technical Report and indicate that significant differences among t...

Use of SF5CF3 for ocean tracer release experiments

[1] SF6 tracer release experiments (TREs) have provided fundamental insights in many areas of Oceanography. Recently, SF6 has emerged as a powerful transient tracer, generating a need for an alternative tracer for large-scale ocean TREs. SF5CF3 has the potential to replace SF6 in TREs, due to similarities in their properties and behavior, as well as techniques for injection, sampling, and analy...
